Forgive Oakville Hornets players if they dont spend the Thanksgiving weekend load- ing up on turkey. Many of them will instead be busy compet- ing in the Oakville Hornets Girls Hockey Associations Harvest Classic tournament, which gets underway tomorrow (Thursday) and concludes Sunday. More than 50 teams from across Ontario are expected to partici- pate in the second annual tournament, with games being contested at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex, Joshuas Creek Arenas and Glen Abbey Recreation Centre. A highlight of the weekend will be a Canadian Womens Hockey League exhibition game that will be played Friday evening at Sixteeen Mile Sports Complex. Among the players expected to suit up for the game between Toronto and Brampton are former Olympic gold medalists Jayna Hefford, Gillian Apps, Cheri Piper, Sami-Jo Small and Tessa Bonhomme. CWHL players will be available before the game to sign autographs, pose for photos and talk about hockey. They will also participate in the new Harvest Classic Skills Competition, which will be run by Toronto Maple Leafs staff member Greg Schell and will include players from the atom AA and midget AA divisions. Bauer will provide the prizes. Admission for the skills competition and exhibition game, which begins at 6 p.m., will be a non-perishable food item for the Fareshare Food Bank.
