Empty Bowls is a grass roots community event that brings together more than 1,000 people in support of a tremendous cause: helping local families facing homelessness. Many people do not know that Halton Region is experiencing a significant rise in housing insecurity. The current waitlist for affordable housing for families would take an astonishing 25 years to fill. Few people know that 85 per cent of the 8,300 low income families in Halton Region reside in Oakville and Burlington. Halton Region has one of Canada's highest per capita incomes, yet we have over 1,200 people who become homeless every year. Fortunately, you can help families facing the devastation of homelessness by supporting Empty Bowls. All event proceeds go directly to Home Suite Hope's work in providing transitional housing services to families in Halton facing homelessness or a housing crisis. Tickets to the Empty Bowls event cost $55 and include a $25 charitable donation. Tickets can be purchased online at www.homesuitehope.org.
