Local schools earn 14 division titles at Catholic meet St. Marguerite d'Youville and St. Matthew both won three division pennants at the Halton Catholic District School Board system elementary crosscountry championships in Burlington. Pope John Paul II, St. Joan of Arc and St. Bernadette added two titles each, while St. Dominic and Our Lady of Peace earned pennants as well. In individual action, 10 local residents won their respective races. Winners included Pope John Paul II's Ethan Chang (mite boys C), Nick Noblecilla (atom boys A) and Liam Murphy (midget boys B); St. Matthew's Sean Guerin (mite boys A) and Kristin O'Neill (midget girls A); St. Marguerite's Dante Stevenson (mite boys A) and Patrick Aldridge (atom boys B); Our Lady of Peace's Kristen Abraham (atom girls A) and Alexandra Cordeiro (bantam girls B); and Holy Family's Gillian Day. Two Oakville schools -- St. Matthew and St. James -- shared the Cynthia Tobin Memorial Award for overall participation. Both schools had a 44 per cent participation level.
