The other gesture Power shared was from an e-mail he received last week from a resident in regards to what one of his officers did. The officer was on traffic duty when a funeral motorcade passed by. He stopped what he was doing to stand at full attention, paying respects to the motorcade. Power said the person was touched by the small gesture. "That's just an example of how some little gesture we can all do, can make such a difference in someone else's life," said Power. Power is now challenging people to partake in Remembrance Day ceremonies as an act of kindness to show respect to veterans and those currently serving the country overseas, he said. OCF volunteers also visited local schools and businesses throughout the day, handing out RAK cards and performing good deeds for others in the community. Whole Foods Markets distributed the cards to various departments of the grocery store doing their own acts of kindness. Staff also helped customers walk out with groceries and hosted a free hug station. "The goal of the day is to increase the well-being, feel-good part of the community and to do something the whole community is involved in," said store spokesperson France Fournier.
