Oakville dropped a 4-3 overtime decision to the Raiders, a day after defeating Georgetown 5-4 in overtime at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex, and leads Georgetown by three points for first in the West Division. HERB GARBUTT / OAKVILLE BEAVER Blades, Georgetown split weekend pair By Herb Garbutt OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF Considering his team had just suffered an overtime loss to its fiercest rival, Kyle Blaney seemed remarkably calm shortly after the Georgetown Raiders rallied late and skated off with a 4-3 overtime victory Saturday. Despite just three points separating the teams battling for first in the Ontario Junior Hockey League's West Division, Blaney knows there will be far more important showdowns in the future. "We're probably going to meet them in the playoffs," the 20-year-old said. "I've been here three years and we've met them in the playoffs both (previous) years. The Blades' next seven games are against teams with losing records. An extended winning streak could go a long way in helping secure home ice throughout the playoffs when games matter most. For Blaney, though, it's the results that matter more than the venue. "I've probably played Georgetown 20 times," said Blaney, who had a goal and an assist in his 100th regular season game Saturday. "You always want to win no matter what, but we're both so See Raiders, page 20 Call Jessica Call Jessica at at 905-845-3824 ext. 299 jlanger jlang gero@oakville @oakvill lebeaver ebeaver.com .com HOME IMPROVEMENT PAINTING PAINTING & WALLPAPERING Inter-Can Painting Inc.
