21 · Friday, November 4, 2011 OAKVILLE BEAVER · www.insideHALTON.com It's RAK Day...do something nice for someone With 60,000 cards distributed, the Oakville Community Foundation (OCF) expects a lot of kindness to be passed around today (Friday) and beyond. The OCF has organized a town-wide Random Act of Kindness (RAK) Day and hopes all residents will do something good for others. RAK cards signify that a random act of kindness has been performed. They will be given to RAK recipients by those who do good deeds. It's hoped the good deed will then be repeated by the recipient. The cards can be picked up by people and then handed to the recipient of the kindness, with the hope that recipient will do the same for someone else. The cards have gone to service clubs, schools, businesses and others. The organization hopes RAK recipients will pass on the gesture now or in the future. The OCF wants many people in the community to take the time to do something nice for others. The premise is to build community "Just go out and do something nice for somebody because you feel good about it and you've done something nice for somebody else." Rusty Baillie, CEO Oakville Community Foundation spirit. It is also to make people realize how good doing something for someone else feels. It's hoped the experience may inspire residents to get involved in the community and perhaps volunteer. "Just go out and do something nice for somebody because you feel good about it and you've done something nice for somebody else," said OCF CEO Rusty Baillie.
