The foundation made a significant donation to the new Oakville hospital. Cockwell served on the board of the Oakville Community Foundation, and has been chair for the past two years. In 2006, she launched a non-profit agency in Oakville, known as HIPPY (Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters).
