PRIME RIB DINNER RESERVE YOUR TABLE NOW A 17-year-old Oakville boy is facing a number of charges following a Sunday crime spree, which spanned both Oakville and Burlington. Police said the spree began at 2 a.m. when the suspect broke into a Stefi Trail home in Oakville, while the homeowners slept. The youth stole a purse and set of car keys from the home, which he then used to steal a car in the home's driveway. Police said that because the vehicle was blocked by a second car, the youth repeatedly rammed the vehicle in order to make good his escape. This type of criminal activ- ity, which left debris strewn throughout the neighbourhood, may have been enough for most people for one evening, but the suspect soon found himself in Burlington. Police said at 2:50 a.m., the same teen went to a townhouse complex in the area of 2531 Northampton Blvd., where he entered several other units while the residents slept. Eventually, the youth's presence was detected and police were contacted. Police used a K9 team to successfully track the teen, locating him inside yet another home he had entered. The youth, who cannot be identified because of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with three counts of break and enter, attempt to break and enter, theft over $5,000, dangerous driving, failing to remain at the scene of an accident and possession of a controlled substance. Halton police are continuing to investigate these incidents and anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Bob Lester at 905825-4747, ext. 2335, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), or through the web at www.haltoncrimestoppers.com or by texting `Tip201' with your message to 274637 (crimes).
