Firefighters rescue dog An Oakville woman was reunited with her dog Wednesday after the dog took a terrifying fall down the escarpment at Neyagawa Boulevard and Upper Middle Road. Oakville Fire Department Platoon Chief Bill Forbes said the woman had been walking her dog, a boxer, down a cycling trail at around 2 p.m., when the dog got away from her and tumbled down the escarpment. "The dog got stuck about halfway down, about 40 feet down I guess," said Forbes. The Oakville Fire Department was called to the scene and commenced what is called a `high angle rescue' in which a firefighter attached to a rope repelled down the escarpment, grabbed the dog and brought it back up. The dog was not injured by the fall. Forbes said this is actually the second dog that has been saved in this manner this week with the other dog being rescued after tumbling over a Bronte Creek escarpment on Saturday. 11 · Thursday, November 24, 2011 OAKVILLE BEAVER · www.insideHALTON.com KENNEDY FORD 2010 NISSAN VERSA S Man charged with assault A 36-year-old Brampton man is facing assault charges after a 39-year-old Brampton man was severely injured during a fight at an apartment on Prince Charles Drive Sunday.
