Oakville sent 33 skaters to the latest Ontario Cup meet of the year, held in Brockville. Patrick Duffy earned gold in relay at the meet and might have earned medals in other events had he been skating in his own age group instead of the Open A division. Sean Stewart, Zachary Lin, Jeremy Lin and Joshua Sullivan all claimed silver medals, while Erin Heidecker and Graeme Stewart placed fourth. Katie Quesnelle knocked six seconds off her previousbest time to meet provincial standards, joining Sara McNamara and Christopher Gemmell as the latest Oakville skaters to qualify for the provincials later this month in Ottawa. At a regional ladder ability meet in Kingston, which focused on certain distances for certain age groups, Oakville had four gold-medal winners. Erin Heidecker won the girls' 111-metre race, Ben Heidecker finished first in the boys' 333m, Peter Stymiest won the boys' 666m and Jan Sullivan was fastest in girls' 666m. Christopher Cooper achieved both Ontario Cup and provincial time standards at the meet, with Connor McNamee and Hobson also meeting provincial time standards. Six medals at Western Regionals Oakville earned six medals at the Western Regional Ability Meet in Bowmanville as well. Adam Craig won gold and bronze, Stewart won gold, Hobson claimed silver and Stephen VanGemert and Graeme Tickner earned bronze. Narrowly missing the podium were Rachel VanGemert (fourth), Anaka Will-Dryden (fourth), Katerina Tzaras (fifth) and Samuel Chin-Cheong (fifth). Both Hobson and NcNamee met Ontario Cup time standards at the meet, with Cassandra Boychuk and Craig achieving the provincial standard. Stewart completed the 500m in 49.44 seconds, the first time he had cracked the 50-second barrier. The club has qualified 37 skaters for the provincials, the most by any club in Ontario.
