Downtown Oakville to host annual Tree Lighting Ceremony this Friday Oakville...There is no better way to kick off the holiday season than the Annual Downtown Oakville Tree Lighting Ceremony, so the businesses of downtown Oakville invite you to join them on Friday, November 18th at 7 p.m. with Global TV for the Annual Holiday Sing Along, featuring music from The Salvation Army Band, Enrico Galante and the Master Works Chorus. The official Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place at 7:30 p.m. with our special guests Oakville Mayor Rob Burton and Joseph Diodati, Chair of the Downtown Oakville BIA. Guests are also invited to bring along nonperishable food items which will be collected on behalf of the Food for Life and the Oakville Downtown BIA Food Drive November 18th ­ December 21, 2011. Food for Life collects fresh surplus fresh food (baked goods, fruit and vegetables, meat and dairy) from local grocery stores, restaurants and the corporate food sector to help feed those in need throughout Halton Region. Food for Life Hunger Squad is an organization that provides food at no cost to local charities and food banks.
