The Hawks were defeated 56-40 by Hamilton's St. Thomas More Knights Wednesday at Loyola in a contest that determined the Golden Horseshoe Athletic Conference (GHAC) representative for the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) quad-A tournament. Sarah Traynor led Loyola with 21 points in the loss to St. Thomas More, which is expected to be the top seed at OFSAA. Notre Dame didn't fare any better in its attempt to qualify for the AAA provincials. The Irish was downed 50-44 by Hamilton St. Mary, which is also likely to be the top seed at its OFSAA tourney. The King's Christian Collegiate Cavaliers and St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders, meanwhile, had a chance to qualify for their respective OFSAA tournaments yesterday (Thursday). King's was home to Brampton Christian with a trip to single-A OFSAA on the line, while Aquinas hosted Brampton Ascension for a berth in double-A provincials. Results from those contests were not available at press time.
