Woman's Rolex stolen at Internet-arranged meeting Halton police are looking for two suspects after a 57-year-old Oakville woman was robbed of a $40,000 Rolex at Hopedale Mall Thursday. Police said the events leading up to the theft actually began a few days earlier when, on Monday, Nov. 21, the woman, who was interested in selling the Rolex, posted an ad on the online site Kijiji. A man going by the name of `Justin' responded to the ad and a meeting was arranged for Wednesday, Nov. 23. The man examined the watch and made arrangements for another meeting at which time payment would be made. The woman and the man agreed on a price of $20,000. Police said the second meeting took place inside Hopedale Mall on Thursday at around 4:30 p.m. "The suspect had the watch in his hands and a second male ran up and grabbed the watch and both males then fled westbound, out of the mall and into the parking lot," said Detective John Mans of the Oakville Criminal Investigations Bureau. "Both males appeared to get into a small blue hatchback-type vehicle and the vehicle fled the area northbound on Third Line." The suspect who identified himself as Justin is described as approximately 25 years of age, 5-foot-4, 140 lbs., light skinned, clean shaven, with dark brown eyes, short brown hair parted in the middle, and spaces between his teeth. He was wearing a black leather jacket, a dark-hooded sweater, jeans, black hightop running shoes, and wore a different Rolex watch. The second suspect is described as male, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-9 and, according to police, with a build befitting a weightlifter. He was about 180 lbs., wore a black-hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled up over his head, a scarf around his mouth and a black leather jacket. The stolen watch is described as a men's 18K gold limited edition President Model Rolex with a meteorite face surrounded by diamonds. The replacement value of the watch is listed at $40,000. Police are continuing to investigate this theft and anyone with information related to it is asked to contact the Oakville Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4747, ext. 2216 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). 3 · Wednesday, November 30, 2011 OAKVILLE BEAVER · www.insideHALTON.com Inside d Opinion............................................6 Artscene.........................................24 Sports.............................................26 Classified........................................29 Full Delivery: Real Estate, Sport Chek, Rona, Partial Delivery: Listen Up Canada, Water Depot, Lemon Leaf, Home Sweet Linens, JYSK, Rona, North Oakville, Shopping News, Bouclair, Henry's Camera, Home Depot, Staples, National Sports, Forever Young, Bentley, Peoples Jewellers, Personal Edge, XS Cargo For home delivery & customer service call (905) 845-9742 Mon., Tues. 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Wed., Thu., and Fri. 9 a.m.-7 p.m. (open for calls only after 5 p.m.) Closed Sat. and Sun.
