Jessica is lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her parents, Susan and Robert Bruce, and siblings Sean, Mark, Sarah and Rachel Bruce, her grandparents David and Audrey Eaton, Bob and Betty Bruce, her uncles and aunts Paul and Isabella Bruce, David Bruce, Ken Eaton, Murray and Janice Eaton and her cousins Abigail Bruce, Alicia, McKenzie, Brittney, Kendra, Kiefer, Kiegan and Liam Eaton. Jessica touched many lives with her keen sense of humour and her infectious smile. She brought much happiness to all who were fortunate enough to know her. Due to her cerebral palsy, she lived a modified life by most people's standards but she lived the life God gave her and enjoyed it to the fullest. She understood and accepted that life is hard, life is unfair, and life is good. She bravely fought many medical battles in her 27 years, never complaining or feeling sorry for herself. Her heart was larger than life itself, allowing Jessica to kindly reach out to those who would naively judge her by her external body and show them love and acceptance. Jessica graduated from T.A. Blakelock High School in Oakville in 2005. She attended Christian Horizon's Oakville Day Program for the last 4 years, where she leaves behind many friends who loved her. While there have been many organizations and people that have helped Jessica during her life, for which her family is very grateful, there are four that have provided extended support to her and in lieu of flowers her family graciously asks that donations be made to one of the following organizations: Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation (formerly Bloorview MacMillan) In Jessica's childhood, Bloorview MacMillan provided her rehabilitative care for many years; IWK Health Centre Foundation, thanks to the pediatric neurology team at the IWK in Halifax, the family was given 14 more years with Jessica; Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, Intensive Care Unit, the team in the ICU, too many to mention individually but they know who they are, provided constant and dedicated care to Jessica, with consultation from Toronto Western Hospital's Movement Disorders neurology department, for the final 6 weeks of her life, for which her family will be forever grateful and Christian Horizons where Jessica had many friends and adventures. Friends and family will gather at the Glen Oaks Chapel and Reception Centre, 3164 Ninth Line (Dundas/403) Oakville, on Thursday, December 8, 2011 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 9, 2011 at St. Matthew Parish, 1150 Monks Passage, Oakville at 11 a.m. Online condolences and memories can be shared through www.glenoaks.ca Tributes for this feature must be received by December 19th.
