The investment, announced by Oakville MPP Kevin Flynn Wednesday at Goodrich's South Service Road headquarters, will assist the company's research and development department. Wednesday's news was welcomed by The investment was well received by Goodrich Tim Whittier government relations director Tim Whittier. The provincial partnership will also create 31 new jobs at Goodrich and protect another existing 37 jobs there. Partnering with business and supporting the aerospace sector are key components of the Province's plan to create and support new and existing jobs and strengthen the local economy. "The innovation being done here on a daily basis, which you can see just by looking around this room, we know that provides the quality jobs and we know that sets the stage for a promising tomorrow in this province," said Flynn. "This is all taking place through a $3.3-million grant that Goodrich will invest in the development in the next generation of landing gear. We are proud to partner with companies such as yourselves." Husband gives wife f the ultimate gift f By David Lea OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF An Oakville husband ended up giving the ultimate gift recently by donating one of his kidneys to his ailing wife. Hitesh Patel, 33, and his wife Jennifer Malabar, 37, are both recovering at home with their threeyear-old daughter, Arya, following the kidney transplant surgery, which took place at Toronto General Hospital on Nov. 24. The surgery date, coincidentally, fell on the couple's fourth wedding anniversary and just a month before Christmas Eve. "My dad asked (me) what am I going to get her next year," said Patel. "How am I going to top a kidney?" Patel and Malabar met in Cuba in 2005 while both were on vacation. Patel, a security specialist with the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA), and Malabar, a Crown attorney with the Ministry of Labour, married on Nov. 24, 2007 and moved to Oakville two years ago to give their new daughter a better environment in which to grow up.
