HHFH executive director Eric Doubt of Georgetown said they learned Tuesday night that a maintenance worker they believed had been killed in the earthquake in Port-AuPrince did not die and has been seen alive in a camp. The organization has also had contact with 35 of its 45 staff members in Haiti. Of those, some have been injured and many lost their homes, but Doubt is grateful there were no fatalities. Doubt added a local structural engineer has certified the guesthouse building on the HHFH property is safe for use by medical teams. He said the organization's first team was expected to arrive via the Dominican Republic yesterday (Wednesday). The organization, which provides physical medicine and rehabilitation for Haiti's 800,000 residents with disabilities, will soon begin a fundraising drive for its new Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Institute.
