Halton Police say the charges relate to break-ins at portables at St. Catharine of Alexandria School in Georgetown sometime late Jan. 6 or early Jan. 7, at Guardian Angels Catholic Elementary School and Hawthorne Village Public School in Milton and St. Joseph's Catholic School in Acton late Jan. 13 or early Jan. 14. A small screwdriver-type pry tool was used to force open doors on six portables at St. Catharine of Alexandria School. Five sets of headphones and an undisclosed amount of money were taken. A similar pry tool was used to break into 14 portables at Guardian Angels School in Milton. A computer hard drive and four Dell computers valued at $400 each were taken. At Hawthorne Village Public School in Milton the stolen items included an iPod, an undisclosed amount of money and $1,100 computer. A small screwdriver pry tool was used to enter six portables at St. Joseph School. Taken were three Toshiba laptops, an IBM ThinkPad computer and a digital frame. Charged following a lengthy investigation with four counts of break and enter are Tomasz Frylewicz, 19, and Jacek Frylewicz, 20, of Acton. They were held for a bail hearing in Milton. The charges came on the heels of a break-in at Robert Little School in Acton last Tuesday in which two other Acton men, both 19, were charged with a variety of offences. In that case nine of the school's 19 classrooms, as well as the staff room and library were vandalized, forcing the closure of the school for one day. The bracelets, which are in green and white (symbolic of the colours of hope and healing) or red and blue, (symbolic of the Haitian flag) will be sold throughout the school for $2 each, with all proceeds being donated to the Christian Reform World Relief Committee (CRWRC). The program began Jan. 18, and was used to not only raise funds but also build awareness of the plight of those suffering in Haiti. For more Haiti fundraising news see page 4.
