AHS hosts Haiti benefit Acton High School Student Council is hosting a benefit concert for the victims of the earthquake in Haiti on Saturday, Feb. 20, at the Roxy on Mill St. E. in Acton. The event, featuring local musicians, will run from 6:30-11 p.m., and is open to everyone in Halton Hills-- "not just youth, as we welcome everyone to come and support the cause," said AHS student Jessica Cheng, publicist for the event. "This event, while not the largest event that will take place to raise funds for the effort, will definitely help show that Acton cares, and that our musicians and community stand united together to help out those in need during times of crisis," said Cheng. Cheng has created a facebook page with more details. The event will feature Sara Wilkinson, Brennan Finlay, Nabi Loney, Darren Atherton, and many many more special guests, all donating their time and talents to raise funds for the ongoing needs of the Haitian Relief effort. All of the proceeds will go to the Red Cross to help continue providing much-needed medical and humanitarian supplies to the victims of January's massive earthquake that leveled the Haitian Capital city of Port-au-Prince, killing an estimated 200,000 people and displacing well over a million. There is no set donation fee, however, entrance is a minimum donation of $5. There will be door prizes, as well as many different auction items for bid in the silent auction.
