Marjorie was born in Toronto and then moved to Georgetown in 1957 with her husband Terry Glover, son Gary and daughter Susan. Thomas was born in 1962. She spent all of her Georgetown years at 56 McIntyre Crescent before moving to Mountainview Residence in 2005. She was an active member of the St. Andrew's United Church where she volunteered on many committees and held various positions within the church. Marjorie was active in the community, especially the North Halton Distress Centre where she volunteered for over 30 years and was one of their charter members. She also worked at the Halton Hills Health Unit for many years. Marjorie was widowed in 1973 and got remarried to Ray Gourley in 1975 and welcomed Mike into her family. Loved mother of Gary (Cindy), Susan (Judith), Thomas (Vali) and Michael (Constance). Cherished grandma of Cedar (Bob), Melissa, Mac, Terry, Chandra, Jennifer, Leanne, Kaitlyn, Emily, Avery, Christopher, Meagan, Patrick and Kelly and great-grandma of Maggie. Fondly remembered by her sister Sharon van dePolder, nieces and nephews Carrie (Cameron), Ryan, Cameron, Karen, Kim, Jeffrey and Robert. Friends will be received at the J.S. Jones and Son Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, north of Maple Avenue, Georgetown on Tuesday February 23rd, 2010 from 1-2 pm. He was the beloved husband of Margaret for 48 years. Alfred was the adored father of Caroline (Jim), Heather (Greg) and James (Theresa) and the much loved grandfather of: Jeremy, Ryan, AmberLea, Rebecca, Carleigh, Melissa, Danielle, Tristan, Ashleigh and Eric. He was the son of the late Alfred and Louise Thatcher and brother of Cynthia, the late Ivy, Rita and Derek. He will be missed by his extended family. Alfred was a decorated WWII Veteran. He served from 1938 to 1946 in France, Italy, Sicily and North Africa. Special thanks to Dr. Minc, Dr. Vanderbent and all the medical staff who gave such good care to Alfred.
