Back in the 1980s the band, which featured Mike Bellinger on bass, Bruce Duggan on guitar, Trace Harding on drums, Greg Onoprijenko on vocals and Rych McKeown on keyboards, was selected from over 70 bands to participate in the High School Star Search competition at the Toronto Concert Hall, and its song "Set the Stage" written by Onoprijenko was selected to be used in Pizza Pizza commercials, advertising the competition. From the mid 1980s to the early 1990s the members of First Class performed with some of Canada's best known acts and appeared on Deadline is Friday for food bank CD submissions Acton Foodshare plans to release a CD compilation featuring local songwriters. This is a chance for local residents to support their local music scene and the food bank at the same time. Like any town in the past year, Acton has seen some challenging times. The food bank has watched its usage increase and its costs rise. The hope for this CD fundraiser is that it will stimulate local music while helping out with the food bank's rising expenses. Any songwriter from the area who has recorded original material can submit up to three mp3s to tim@truemusicproductions.com. Tracks for the CD will be chosen by a panel of judges including local music producer Tim Alberts, Roxy concert promoter Kellen Wiersma, and Acton Foodshare chair Arlene Humphreys. The deadline for submissions is Friday, February 26. A CD release concert will be held at the Roxy at 6 Mill St. E. in Acton on April 17 and the CD will be available both at the concert and at various local stores and businesses. It will sell for $10 with proceeds going directly to the Acton Foodshare. For more information contact True Music Productions at 905-702-7470.
