(YLANDSON0ARK From the moment he got his first Hot Wheels car, Greg Hyland was hooked on automobiles. Now the Georgetown native is the proud owner and operator of Hyland's on Park, a local body shop that offers detailing, restoration of classic and modern cars and reconditioning of lease returns and used cars. "When I was a kid, I'd see old cars driving by and I was intrigued by them," he says. "Then I learned to work on them and I made it a career." Greg brings this lifelong love of cars to his business, which is located at 41 Park Avenue in Georgetown. According to Greg, the key to his Hyland's on Park's success is the team's attention to detail and focus on quality. "When we detail a car, we get all the nooks and crannies," says Greg, who has been in the car business for 20 years. "I'm fussy and people know that. That's why we get repeat business." When he isn't working, Greg is a familiar face at Halton Hills' many car shows, including the weekly Cruise Nights and the annual Classics Against Cancer Car Show on Father's Day, where he is often asked to be a judge and is able to interact with other enthusiasts. "I'm a classic car guy. They have a lot of character and style," he says. "You've got to do what you like and this was a good pick for me. I don't think I'll ever get sick of it." As the owner and operator of Georgetown Glass and Window Service, Dan is a glass guru who does everything from replacing broken window panes to creating custom-made glass for tables, kitchen cabinets and more. Dan has years of experience in the glazier business, having started part-time as a teenager and working full-time locally for the last four years. Last month, he set out on his own and opened Georgetown Glass and Window Service. The new business offers a wide range of services, including the replacement of thermal window units, the repair of old single-pane windows, the replacement of any broken hardware for windows and doors, the installation of frameless shower enclosures, as well as simple screen repairs and patio door servicing. From the get-go, Dan has been committed to customer service and vows to return phone calls as soon as possible. He starts each job within a few days of getting the call and finishes each job quickly and efficiently. "I provide service at it's best when you need it most!" he says. Muttley Crew Dog Training and Daycare Inc. Tom Allen has taken his love of dogs and turned it into a career. Tom is the owner and operator of Muttley Crew Dog Training and Daycare Inc., a Georgetown-based business that offers a variety of dog-related services, including training, walking and daycare. Tom travels to his clients' homes so he can train the dogs - and their humans - in an environment in which they're most comfortable. He also uses his own home as a daycare and an alternative to boarding. The visiting dogs are treated as part of the family and are given the run of the house and the large backyard along with Tom's two dogs. In addition to these services, Tom also helps people find the right breed of dog for their lifestyle. "Too many dogs end up at the humane society because people don't know what they need," he says. Tom meets with clients and conducts a detailed interview to learn how active they are, how often they're away from home and other information to get an overall view of their life. "I'm not going to put a Golden Retriever puppy with somebody who's 75 years old," he says. "They might want and older dog that has already calmed down. "People don't necessarily understand their pet and I want to help," he adds. "I want to help from the dog's perspective and I want to help people get the behaviour of their dog under control."
