The Foodshare is currently in need of canned fruit, fish, meat, soup, stew, chili, pasta, vegetables, beans, pasta sauce, potatoes, Mr. Noodles, boxed juice, macaroni and cheese, rice, Sidekick pastas, Hamburger Helper, peanut butter, jam and peanut-free school snacks. "(We're looking for) pretty much anything except dry pasta and baby food," says co-ordinator of the Acton Foodshare, Arlene Humphreys. Non-perishable food items are to be put at front doors by residents before 8:30 a.m. and will be picked up by scouts, guides and cadets. Food donations can be dropped off at Sobeys, Giant Tiger, Prosperity One and The Roxy during normal business hours. From Tuesday to Thursday, between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. only, donations can be made at Bethel Christian Reformed Church and every Tuesday between 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at Acton Foodshare. Residents donating more than $10 in cash will receive a charitable donation tax receipt. A name and address must be included with the donation. The food bank is also looking for volunteers to help with the collection and sorting of food on location. Anyone interested is asked to fill out an application. A short interview will also be held. The Acton Foodshare would also like to thank all involved in the Songs for Supper compilation CD, which will be released on April 17 starting at 7 p.m. at the Roxy located in downtown Acton at the corner of Main and Mill Streets. "The tickets are $5 at the door. There will be live music and the CDs will be available then as well," says Humphreys. The cost of the CD is $10. "All proceeds will go to the food bank," adds Humphreys. The Acton Foodshare is looking for local businesses and stores interested in selling the CDs on behalf of the Foodshare.
