30 Independent & Free Press,Thursday, April 15, 2010 Get your calendars out for plenty of Georgetown Seniors events ahead By FLORENCE RIEHL Georgetown Seniors Centre This great weather is bringing with it a busy schedule of events to our Centre. It begins with a visit from Young's Pharmacy on April 20 to show some of their new senior homecare items and new line of adaptive clothing. From 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 24 the Centre will be holding its Annual Yard Sale. Please no large furniture, TVs, clothes, or shoes. Remember if you would consider buying it, then donate it for sale. May starts off with the All You Can Eat Pancake Breakfast, Saturday, May 1, 8 a.m. to noon. Cost is $5 and everyone welcome. The following Saturday, May 8 is the Come Shop With Us event. One loonie at the door gets you into a shopping spree. Coffee and muffins will be available. Look for the flyers around Town for a list of companies to be represented. Tickets, $5 each, are now on sale at the Reception Desk for the eagerly awaited Alia/Tan Jay of Milton Fashion Show to be held Thursday, May 13. Light refreshments will be served and all ladies are invited. Limited seating. On May 12 Mingle and Chat will be having a speaker to discuss "All you need to know about diabetes". It will begin at 10 a.m. Sounds like it should be very informative. Come in and get you car washed on Saturday, May 15. Let's hope it is a sunny day. A "Mom to Mom" sale will be going on inside at the same time. An opportunity for moms to buy gently used children's clothing. Day Trippers still have seats available for the Port Dover excursion. Open to seniors (55+). Call 905-873-1210. Hope you have your calendars up to date. You don't want to miss the fun! Acton Seniors craft ladies to work on a challenge By JULIE CONROY Acton Seniors Centre It was like opening Pandora's Box last Monday morning when the craft group opened the huge box of wool and partly finished knitted items at the Acton Seniors Centre. They were very generous and donated some of the wool to Ruth for her knitting for overseas, and are going to work on the challenge of finishing some of the items, even though there were no patterns. Our Craft ladies are very talented and enjoy a challenge. Now Spring is here our thoughts turn to our gardens. After many years of keeping our garden at our entrance colourful and attractive June Fraser has decided to take a well earned break. We were hoping some avid gardener will enjoy the challenge of keeping our small front garden attractive with seasonal plantings. If you are interested, please leave your front name at the desk for Wendy Krever. There is still room to get your ticket for the British Isles Show. If you are interested, check at front desk. At Rama last Wednesday, Peggy Naughton won the 50/50, the birthday prizes were won by Joan Hayes and Iren Zililpovic, and in the lucky seats were Fran Lore, Joan Collacci, Ethel McEchern, Wilma Champion, Adele Lavesque, and Harry Van der Heyden. t h al 9 1 nu n A antique show Find it here!
