26 Independent & Free Press,Thursday, April 22, 2010 GDHS marries comedy, romance in drama dept.'s, Love in the Rainforest Georgetown District High School invites you to take a wild trip back to the 1980s and join Mark and Mary as they commit their lives to each other against the will of their feuding parents. Mark and Mary are a modern day Romeo and Juliet and have decided to disguise the event as a Save the Rainforest gala, where both their unknowing parents will be lured to the wedding and forced to participate. It's a wedding, but you can be sure that the claws will be out during this jungle of a night! The GDHS Drama Department is very excited for the upcoming show and hopes to have a full house for the students to perform. Since the beginning of February, the Grade 12 productions class has taken on the task of producing, directing and acting in Love in the Rainforest, a scripted-improvised theatre piece where the audience becomes part of the play. From a pregnant bridesmaid to an uptight wedding planner, cast members play every type of personality and character under the sun. The play runs Wednesday, April 28 to Friday, April 30. The show starts at 7 p.m. in the school's cafeteria where you will watch theatre that involves tons of audience participation and a guaranteed good time.
