A 16-pound schnoodle (half schnauzer, half poodle) was attacked at around 10 a.m. last Wednesday while on a walk with its owner north of Upper Middle Road, near Grand Oak Trail. The dog survived -- a much better fate than what befell a five-pound maltipoo (half-Maltese, half-poodle) that was snatched and killed near Heritage Way Park and Saddler Circle a week ago Tuesday morning. Last Wednesday morning, Oakville resident Kim Ramsahoye and her schnoodle, Chachi, were out for a walk with a neighbour and her puppy. Both dogs were leashed. See Owner page 5 Trust fund set up for three boys The family of the late Katherine Newman of Oakville has established a trust fund for the slain mother's three sons. Newman, 43, was found stabbed to death inside her Treetop Terrace home around noon Thursday, minutes after her estranged husband, Kyle Newman, also 43, was fatally shot during an altercation in the parking lot of the Halton Katherine Newman police Oakville division station. Chachi is a little worse for wear, having sustained some injuries, but managed to escape and run home after being attacked while on a walk with Ramashoye.
