HEARING SCIENCES Audiology and Hearing Aid Centre Photos by Ted Brown Public invited to help with church mission Maple Avenue Baptist Church's Missions Committee is inviting the public to join them in helping to build a community centre in Brazil. Local church members are teaming with Partners International for an evangelical mission to aid the impoverished fishing village of Morro do Meio on the northeast coast of Brazil. The village is completely isolated and lacks basic services. Since most residents do not have personal documents, they do not qualify for government assistance available in other villages. MABC and Partners International plan to help build a small community centre that will have running water and a washroom. When complete, the centre will provide pre-school children with early learning opportunites and can also be used to conduct adult literacy classes in a community where few people read and write. It will also provide a place for worship until a planned new church is built. To date $8,300 has been raised for the first phase of the project, which is to finish the community centre's shell this fall. An additional $7,000 is needed in 2011 to complete the interior of the building. For more information or to aid this project, contact the Missions Committee at Maple Avenue Baptist Church at 905873-9211. Anyone interested in participating in the October mission should contact Eva Dors at Maple Avenue Baptist Church at mabc@mabc.ca or 905-8739211 before Friday, May 21. When I am in a group, I just smile because I can't follow the conversation Valid until MAY 31/10 Age 55+ BRING THIS AD FOR A COMPLIMENTARY HEARING TEST $60 VALUE Many people feel frustrated when they can't participate in small group conversation. This is due to room noise overwhelming the soft high frequency consonant sounds that are so important for speech clarity. Today's hearing instruments are able to isolate speech sounds and manage the noise background, so with practice you will be able to actively participate in conversations again. Come and hear the newest technology for yourself. The first step to better hearing is a hearing test.
