Georgetown Seniors Centre news By FLORENCE RIEHL Georgetown Seniors Centre Lots of variety in the Variety Show. It included Gospel Singers, French singers, a Happy Hooker, a wanabee Patsy Cline, the return of George Burns from the dead, a bunch of ladies from the kitchen, and the weirdest fashions you have ever seen. I defy anyone to beat that for variety. Last call for tickets for the Seniors' Month Chicken BBQ and 15th Anniversary Celebration. Date is Friday, June 15 at 5 p.m. It is Swiss Chalet Chicken and includes dipping sauce. The cost is $15 and promises lots of fun! Fun! Fun! There is a new drop-in program, Fun Dance Class, going on every Wednesday morning until July 7. For the low cost of one loonie you can pick up some new moves, a little bit of everything for everybody. Great Canadian (bus tours) tells me I can have one more HILLSVIEW-NEWS FROM THE SENIORS CENTRES ticket for Jersey Boys on July 7. Interested? Call me at 905-8731210. Speaking of trips, the signup sheet is up for the Intergenerational Zoo trip, August 18, Shaw Festival Theatre to see Oscar Wilde's play A Man is Human, October 28, and for those interested in November shopping trip to Eire and Grove City, Pennsylvania. Come on in and get your name on the list. Don't miss out on the fun. Three of the registered classes will run through the summer, namely Stability Ball & Weights on Tuesday, Still Sizzlin' on Thursday, and Zumba Gold on Thursday. These classes are open to the public. For more information please call the Centre at 905-877-6444. A reminder that the Centre is air-conditioned and open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is a cool place to be on a hot summer day. Cold drinks, coffee with a couple of cookies, and great friends. 35 Independent & Free Press, Thursday, June 10, 2010 Acton seniors volunteer to fundraise for the Centre Francis Hogenbirk (left), shows off her baking goods to Stephanie Westaway and Sherry McNabb during the annual Spring Bazaar held by the Acton Seniors Recreation Centre.
