4 Big Daddy Thursday, June 10, 2010 Classics Against Cancer car show returns for its 23rd year Father's Day would not be the same year after year for car enthusiasts from far afield without this ever popular event-- Classics Against Cancer is one of the largest juried events held in Ontario. What a great way to spend Father's Day with the whole family. This year, as in the past, the event is held in beautiful Cedarvale Park situated a mere 10 minutes walk from Downtown Georgetown in Halton Hills. Several thousand people usually attend to view the approximately 300 cars on display. The gates open at 7:30 a.m. and you can be rest assured there will be a line up already. Cars from the early 1900s to 1980 will parade in to the park. After the vehicles are registered everyone is invited to enjoy a pancake breakfast. The parade of cars entering the field will consist of wonderful antique cars, powerful muscle cars of the '60s and '70s, a selection of Corvettes and Mustangs and many more. There is even a special section for newer than 1980 cars. houses with 500-plus horses under the hood and many others. There will be special activities for the kids like face painting. Refreshments will be available all day so stay for a hot dog lunch or maybe a large plate of fries or if it is hot (we hope) you can enjoy ice cream and pop. There will be entertainment and live music provided by country and western band The Dixons. Well known local businessman, Neil Young, started this show all those years ago. It was basically a few cars at a strawberry social and has grown to the great event it is today.
