Dozens of dog lovers and their four-legged friends participated in the sunny five-kilometre walk, which was hosted by the Georgetown Lions Club. This year's event raised $5,815 for the Lions Foundation of Canada's Dog Guide programs, which provide dog guides at no cost to Canadians living with visual, hearing, medical and/or physical disabilities. Acton's Dobbie Frizzell (right) was a longtime volunteer firefighter, has helped coach hockey and baseball, and volunteered to do electrical wiring for Habitat for Humanity projects. Photo by Jon Borgstrom Donating locks for a good cause Halton Hills Regional Councillor Clark Somerville had his head shaved for a good cause at the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) Annual Conference in Toronto recently. Somerville, an FCM member of the Board of Directors, raised approximately $3,260 for the Mayor Andree Boucher Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship is to increase women's participation in civil administration or municipal government. Halton Hills Wards 3/4 Regional Councillor Jane Fogal shaved off Somerville's locks while Ward 3 Councillor Dave Kentner (left) and Past President of the FCM Jean Perrault, former Mayor of Sherbrooke, Quebec, looked on.
