It will begin and end in the Georgetown Hospital courtyard. Hundreds of people from Halton Hills will follow a 5km course through Georgetown, featuring a stroll down Main Street and a hike through parks and along the trails that give Georgetown its distinctive character. After the walk, enjoy a lunch and fun activities for the kids, such as an award presentation featuring magic, clowns, prizes, face-painting and more. Georgetown Hospital Award of Excellence On Thursday, July 17, 2010 Halton Healthcare Services (HHS) held their Annual General Meeting and Awards Ceremony where the Georgetown Hospital Award of Excellence was presented to this year's recipient. The award is presented to a staff member at Georgetown Hospital who displays a commitment to our patients and their families, demonstrates professional standards and practices and is highly respected for their Andre Courchesne, winner of Georgetown strong support of HHS' core values. Hospital Award of Excellence. This year's recipient was Andre Courchesne, a Plant Technician in Environmental Services, who has been a staff member at Georgetown Hospital for nine years. HHS would like to extend a heartfelt congratulation to Andre on this achievement. Resources Saved by Georgetown Hospital Georgetown Hospital takes part in a number of green initiatives and in 2009 Georgetown Hospital was able to conserve some of the planets most valuable resources! Sixty-eight cubic yards were diverted from the landfill, 383 trees were saved, 90,000 kilowatts of energy and 70,003 litres of water were saved and conserved all last year. Georgetown Hospital Gets Recognized by Province Georgetown Hospital has significantly improved wait times for patients who need to be admitted to the hospital. After implementing a number of key strategies, Georgetown Hospital admits all patients requiring admission to the hospital within the Ministry's target goal time. As a result, the McGuinty government is providing the hospital with one-time performance funding of $611,000 as part of Ontario's Pay-for-Results program for sharing best practices with other hospitals to help them improve their emergency room performance. Reducing ER wait times is part of the government's Open Ontario Plan to provide more access to health care services while improving quality and accountability for patients. Baird Family Bake Sale Benefits Georgetown Hospital On Sunday, May 30, 2010 the Baird family of Ontario Street in Georgetown held a neighbourhood bake sale featuring Margo Baird's baked goods. Three generations of the Baird family helped out with the baking, advertising and selling. In the end, the family raised $456 to help the hospital with its equipment needs. "I think we're quite lucky to have such a good hospital in our town," said Mrs. Margo Baird. "This was our way of showing our appreciation and giving something back to the community."
