In Focus, July, 2010 4 Letter from In Focus July is a month full of possibilities. For kids, this month marks the beginning of two long months of lazy summer days that can be spent doing anything they want. Picnics, swimming, hikes along the Bruce Trail, trips to the corner store for ice cream and freezies, baseball games, summer camps, frog catching, cottage trips, family vacations, puddle splashing, Frisbee tossing, game show watching...at this magical point in the summer, anything can happen. As the weeks wear on and the novelty wears off, kids and especially their parents notice mid-summer ennui set in. You know the feeling: when everything is BORING and it's too HOT and there's NOTHING TO DO and NOBODY'S AROUND. But in happy, hot, optimistic July, the lemonade glass is much more than half full. Whatever your plans are for the summer, remember to take In Focus with you. Send us a photo of you, your friends and/or your family reading In Focus on your travels and you could see yourself in our next issue. In this issue, you will find tons of photos from oodles of different local events. (And yes, "oodles" is the only word that properly expresses the number of events we attended last month). From school fundraisers and play days to charity barbecues and walks to the first ever Big Daddy Festival on Father's Day, we had a very busy month and we can't wait to share it with you! So find some shade, grab a cool drink, sit back and enjoy the July edition of In Focus. As always, we want to hear from you. What are your summer plans? How are you celebrating Canada Day this year? Do you have an event coming up? Let us know! Happy July! This summer, the students at St. Joseph School will be walking around with super-sparkly teeth after a visit from Maggie Rei and Ana Dominkovic from Dentistry on Sinclair. The dental hygienists spent two days at the Acton school to teach kindergarten and grade 1 students about good oral hygiene routines. After watching a fun movie and helping to brush Dudley the Dragon's teeth, the kids couldn't wait to go home and practice what they learned! Photos by Andrea Lefebvre IN FOCUS IS A PRODUCT OF
