Strawberry Social The Georgetown Hospital Volunteer Association hosted an earth-shattering Strawberry Social last month. The hospital's energetic volunteers were serving tea, coffee, juice and delicious strawberry shortcake at the Lions Hall on June 23 when a minor earthquake shook Ontario and Quebec. Unfazed, the volunteers went on serving their hungry guests, who were more than happy to help raise money for the hospital. Local politicians and businesspeople found themselves behind bars recently during Crime Stoppers Halton's Jail-a-Thon fundraiser. The event had passersby "bail out" the well-known prisoners from a jail cell set up at the Georgetown Market Place. All money raised goes to Crime Stoppers, which pays rewards of up to $2,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Photos by Andrea Lefebvre
