Children's Chorus to begin new season of singing on Tuesday By LOIS FRASER Georgetown Children's Chorus The Georgetown Children's Chorus has an exciting new season planned. Longtime music director and co-founder, Dale Wood, is back for his 19th year. In December, the Children's Chorus will present four performances of the rock musical A Ticket to Christmas at the John Elliott Theatre. All Chorus kids between the ages of 7 & 14 are eligible to participate in the show. The Cherub (ages 5 and 6) and Senior (ages 12 to 18) choirs will perform on stage, before the musical. The Performance choir (ages 10 to 18) will participate in the Nov. 7th Celebration of Peace concert. The GCC has performed at this concert, along with the Choral Society, for 15 years. In the spring, the entire choir will perform a concert called A Little Bit of Soul, featuring the sounds of Motown as well as lively and challenging gospel hits. The choir has also applied to do another youth exchange program in the spring. Last year, 40 choir members, aged 12 to 18, travelled to Nova Scotia. The Children's Chorus did an exchange with the Whistler Children's Chorus in 2003 and will apply to travel there again. The GCC registration fee is $125/year, plus a theatre production fee of $30 for costumes, props and theatre rental for those who are in A Ticket to Christmas. Subsidies are available for financially challenged families. The Chorus meets Tuesdays, starting Sept. 14 at the Georgetown Christian Reformed Church, 11611 Trafalgar Rd.
