"Winter is an etching, spring a watercolor, summer an oil painting and autumn a mosaic of them all." --Stanley Horowitz Fall is normally a time that sees the end of things... summer's flowers, the leaves on the trees and many outdoor activities. However, in this edition of Sideroads of Halton Hills we welcome the efforts of a couple new writers-- Sarah Vishneau and Dawn Livingstone-- and former contributer Michael Schultz. Vishneau is a Red Seal-certified chef from Georgetown who has worked in a wide variety of areas in the food industry. She will offer up some favourite seasonal recipes for Sideroads readers. Dawn Livingstone, is the secretary of the Esquesing Historical Society who, in this edition, shares a story years in the making as she has tracked down the history behind the Silver Cross medal...and it dates back to Georgetown resident William Fraser. Schultz, who previously penned a piece on garlic, pays a visit to Whole Circle Farms. Naturalist Kerry Jarvis also returns in this issue with a story on the Georgetown Horticultural Society. Nicknamed Hum and Buzz, Fournier said he enjoyed watching the parent birds tend to the young pair over a three-month period before they flew the coop in July. He's hoping the nest will be used again next spring. Photos by Bill Fournier AUTUMN · 2010 5 S I D E R O A D S O F H A LT O N H I L L S $10 OFF Start your Christmas Wines NOW!
