David Usher to help plant trees Saturday; volunteers wanted Juno award-winning musician David Usher is helping to celebrate Trees by the Shore's 50th planting event by attending a tree planting in Cedarvale Park, on Saturday, Oct. 2, 10 a.m. to noon. Approximately 1,500 trees will be planted along Silver Creek. The event is sponsored by Majesta brand of tissue products, Town of Halton Hills and Credit Valley Conservation (CVC). POWER (Protect Our Water and Environmental Resources) is looking for volunteers. "We are especially grateful that this project is highlighted and that David Usher will be joining us in our community during the International Year of Biological Diversity and there are many things we can all do to protect our precious web of life," said Leslie Adams, POWER's general manager and project lead, who also expressed thanks to the sponsoring agencies. At 10 a.m. there will be a "proper planting demo" and then the restoration planting will begin. Please dress for the weather!
