The store, which is owned and operated by Brian and Lynn Kennedy, sells a wide array of quality used books, particularly classic literature, travel, history, art and biographies. What started out as a hobby soon became more for the husband and wife team. They had been buying books for 30 years, selling them for 10 years and finally opened their own store - Reeve & Clarke - two years ago. "We've always been avid readers and had a love of books," Brian says. "I particularly like the research, as well as the learning and preserving of history." In addition to books, Reeve & Clarke also sells small antiques and ephemera, which is what Brian and Lynn call old paper items that people tend to throw away, such as calendars, sheet music, posters, letters, maps and pamphlets. It's only appropriate that a business dealing in antiques and rare books is located in a historic building in Glen Williams. The structure dates back to 1847 and was once a general store where Timothy Eaton, the founder of Eaton's department stores, worked in the 1850's. But in the end, it all comes down to the people. "We enjoy the dialogue with our customers," Brian says. "I think we learn as much from them as they do from us."
