Source of the Song co-founder and host Bruce Madole is enthusiastic about the line-up, saying, "They're all extremely gifted and accomplished songwriters, in addition to being brilliant performers." Wheatley is lyrically as solid as the Canadian Shield she used to survey as a geologist, before music called her away like an outburst of the northern lights. An award-winning composer, songwriter and arranger, she has toured across Canada, the U.S. and Europe as a singer/songwriter, is a member of the all-star band, Betty and the Bobs, as well as the vocal group, The Pomelos, and plays guitar in Wendell Ferguson's backup band, Smoking Section. Girard has been called "a Canadian nightingale" by European radio, and has been a staple of the festival circuit while touring across North America and Ireland. She has been nominated as Best Contemporary Singer in the 2009 Canadian Folk Music Awards. McLean is the 2010 winner of the Ontario Council of Folk Festivals (OCFF) Galaxie Rising Star Award in the Songs *UHDW IRU $GXOWV 'U 1RHO $QDQWKDQ $VVRFLDWHV "6 *HQHUDO 3UDFWLWLRQHU &DQGLFH 5R\ 5'+ 0LVVLVVDXJD _ *HRUJHWRZQ AMBRE MCLEAN from the Heart competition, for her song Me, My Heart and the Moon. A secondgeneration musician, McLean's style is a fusion of jazz, country, blues, folk and pop and has just released her second CD Murder at the Smokehouse. "I first heard Ambre's work while serving as a juror on this year's Songs from the Heart competition," says Madole, "and I was blown away with it. I told myself, when all the dust settles and the awards are done, I have to find out more about this artist. As soon as I could, I invited her to join us for Source of the Song." For information or ticket orders, call: 905-459-9753 or email brucemadole@ sympatico.ca. Advance tickets ($15) are available at the Williams Mill Art Gallery in the Williams Mill Visual Arts Centre in Glen Williams. On the day of the show, tickets will be $20 at the door.
