Dozens of local drivers `Impacted' Some Halton residents are still not getting the message that impaired and aggressive driving won't be tolerated say Halton Regional Police after the completion of Operation Impact. Operation Impact is a national campaign designed to make Canada's roads the safest in the world and ran from Oct. 8 to Oct. 11-- the Thanksgiving weekend chosen because more people are traveling and there are more accidents at that time. In Halton Hills/Milton during the campaign police issued 12 roadside suspensions, 40 seatbelt violations, 182 speeding tickets and three impaired driving charges. In Burlington there were five roadside suspensions, one impaired driving charge, five seatbelt tickets and 185 speeding tickets issued. In Oakville. police laid two impaired driving charges, 24 tickets for seatbelts and 89 speeding tickets.
