ROXY Asia is a gorgeous feline with a huge personality. She was approximately a one year old when she arrived as a stray at the Shelter in January 2010. Asia has an expansive personality, sometimes full of energy, always an independent spirit, she decides on her preferences at any given time. She is not particularly fond of the company of the throngs of residents and can show her pernickity side to other cats. However, on a dime she can become a "loving princess" when it is human/feline interaction time. Asia is very funny to watch, she loves to play, jump and bounce around, even leaping Asia is a princess waiting for a royal family out of her cage and scanning the floor for toys as she zips about. Often hilarious, upside down on the scratching posts, throwing toys under things ...much more fun to catch and even batting at shoes to make them move. Asia would flourish in a home in which she would be an "only" the recipient of all that should come to a "princess" or at least a diva in her own right. Not recommended for a family with young children, because Asia will express herself if rough handling or teasing came her way. We think Asia could manage a dog if they could manage Asia. ASIA Please note that Asia is being showcased at Global Pet Foods, 8 Main St., Acton, On (519-8538833) and she will be thrilled to meet you. Adoptions will be made as usual through UCHS (519-833-2287) or email adoptions@uppercredit.com. Stories by JUDITH-ANNE KOLU Upper Credit Humane Society volunteer Photos by Claudia Duijsens www.claudiaduijsens.com Let Roxy, the `people dog', rock your world Roxy with that little earnest face and "oh so pleased to meet you" attitude is an attractive lab/hound mix only 3 years old. Black and tan with a tail that curls in a complete circle, she is our 35 lb high energy athlete. Surrendered on September 20th Roxy had enjoyed life as an "only" but following the arrival of a new canine family member things changed. Perhaps her needs as resident dog were not fully considered, jealousy probably took over and the decision was made to keep the new dog and Roxy was out of luck and out the door so to speak! Not wishing to stress her further in a multiple canine home we are looking for her to be an "only" where she would definitely excel as the "Queen of her Castle" safe in the knowledge that in her eyes she will not be replaced. Though wary of dogs in her domain, Roxy appears to be very accepting of cats, perhaps seeing them as no direct competition to her. Above all, Roxy is a "people dog", enjoying life at home with you, is crate-trained and loves to go out in the car. Roxy is athletic and can jump from a sitting position to her head appearing above the kennel door! Roxy is housebroken, has her basic commands and for one of our walkers is the reigning favourite walking partner as she walks well and loves her exercise. Roxy will need a fenced yard, would benefit from more training to focus her energy and would be fabulous if her family wanted to participate with her in agility, flyball etc., which would be enormous fun for both. We know that in the right home with her trust restored, this action girl will show her quiet relaxed side which she does even at the Shelter. If time allows and a volunteer can sit with her quietly in her kennel massaging her neck and shoulders, she closes her eyes in total bliss...."ahhhhhh if only this could be part of my life," she seems to say. Roxy is a sweet girl who just needs a chance to rock your world. Call 519833-2287 or email adoptions@uppercredit.com to meet her. Come soon.
