Profits to stay in Halton for Youth Activities! ... for GLT's The Lion in Winter By SAM HANCOCK Georgetown Little Theatre Theatre folk never sleep. Georgetown Little Theatre recently wrapped up their busy 50th anniversary season with a gala dinner. As the last guest left, the 50th season ended and the 51st season officially began. Director Andrew Humeniuk will be holding auditions for GLT's fall 2011 production of The Lion in Winter by James Goldman. This oft-staged classic was made into a famous film with Katherine Hepburn and Peter O'Toole. Set during Christmas in 1183, King Henry II's family gather to decide who inherits the throne. Henry promises the kingship to his favourite son. Queen Eleanor, his imprisoned wife for the past 10 years, wants her favourite to be king. The middle son is left with nothing but a promise to be chancellor when his brother becomes king. King Phillip of France arrives and demands that either his sister Alais (Henry's mistress) marry Henry's son immediately or Henry return her large dowry. And thus the political wheeling and dealing begins... There are five male and two female roles, with ages ranging from 17 to 61. Auditions take place at The GLT Studio, 33 Stewarttown Rd., Sunday, June 19 (1-4 p.m.) and Wednesday, June 22 (7:30-10:30 p.m.). Callbacks are on Sunday, June 26 (1-4 p.m.) Contact Andrew by email at andrew@humeniuk.com or phone 416-571-1012 to book an audition time. Please prepare a comedic monologue under one minute in length and be prepared to do a cold reading from the script. Rehearsals start August 28 and will be held most Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Performances run the last weekend in October and the first two weekends in November at Heritage Acton's newly renovated Town Hall. You have probably heard that legislation has been passed that targets drivers using cell phones while operating a motor vehicle. We all know that distractions are a dangerous combination and common part of driving on today's congested roadways. Any way to lessen the number of distractions faced daily would greatly help one to focus on the task at hand, and get on with their day. At the Georgetown Hearing Clinic, we do not condone the use of cell phones while driving, but when absolutely necessary, a hands free device, such as a speaker phone, line OnstarTM or a bluetooth connected earpiece can be very useful and help reduce distraction - not to mention allow the driver the use of both hands. At The Georgetown Hearing Clinic, we provide a wide variety of custom fit and non custom fit bluetooth hands free devices.
