Comrade Lynn Lafleur will be installed at our June meeting as our new Sports Officer. Thanks for standing up to the plate, Lynn, we certainly appreciate it. There are no regular general meetings in July and August, I hope you all have a safe and happy summer. See you in September at our general meeting on the 15th. We would like to thank the Branch Executive for our appreciation dinner held recently. For tickets to our 83rd Birthday Supper Honours & Awards Evening on Saturday September 17th please call Janet at 905-873-9644. Tickets are going fast and are $10 each. To our Comrades who are under the weather and to our shut-ins, we wish you well. Christina Keller Kailey Donaldson Ivan Beram Victoria Debrincat Daniel Olmstead Demi Swann Acton High School Athletes of the Week are Christina Keller and Kailey Donaldson. Both are members of the Bearcats Girls softball team, and were chosen for their performance in a recent win over Milton District. Keller, playing second and pitching two innings, was cited for her good defense. Donaldson, a rover on the team, was credited with catching numerous outfield flies. Georgetown District High School Athletes of the Week are Daniel Olmstead and Demi Swann. Olmstead, a member of the Rebels Archery team was chosen for his good showing at OFSAA, having the top score for his team, as well as finishing 75 out of 142 competitors. Swann, a member of the Rebels track team, was selected for her good performance at OFSAA in the long jump, triple jump and 4x100 relay. Christ the King Catholic High School Athletes of the Week are Ivan Beram and Victoria Debrincat. Beram, a left wing and mid-fielder on the Jaguars junior soccer team was chosen for his two assists in a 6-1 win over Nelson. Debrincat, who plays goal on the Jaguars' junior girls soccer team, was chosen for her shutout against Aldershot, where CtK won 1-0.
