Building upon the success of its Blue Box and GreenCart programs, Halton Region is exploring ways to further increase residential waste diversion to 65 and even 70 per cent! In consultation with the Joint Municipal Regional Waste Management Committee--a citizen's advisory committee--Halton Region has developed a Draft Solid Waste Management Strategy. The Draft Solid Waste Management Strategy identiÍes potential initiatives that could be implemented to achieve these higher waste diversion goals. Special Waste Drop-off Day in Oakville On Saturday, June 25, Halton Region will hold a Special Waste Drop-off Day to help make the recycling and safe disposal of household hazardous waste and electronic waste more convenient for residents. The event will run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Halton Regional Centre, 1151 Bronte Road, Oakville. Residents who are unable to attend this Gary Carr event may drop off acceptable hazardous waste and electronic items free Regional Chair of charge at the Halton Waste Management Site, 5400 Regional Road 25, Milton, or attend another Special Waste Drop-off Day this fall. Please "grasscycle" by leaving grass clippings on your lawn. Grass clippings will decompose quickly, releasing valuable nutrients back into your soil.
