Volunteers needed for women's pro tourney The Blue Springs Golf Club in Acton is playing host to a CN Women's Tour event for the second straight year later this month and organizers are seeking the help of volunteers. A 36-hole tournament that runs June 28-29, with a pro-am scheduled for June 27, the Acton stop is the third of three events on the CN Tour. The Milton Rangers downed Georgetown Dairy Queen 17-10 for the rookie ball title, while the Royal Canadian Legion defeated Acton Precast Athletics 13-9 in the peewee final. Brookville/Campbellville prevailed in the bantam division final with a 15-7 victory against Georgetown's EndZone Sports Exchange. The GBA is celebrating its 50th anniversary this season with just under 600 players age 5-21 signed up in house league and rep categories. Limehouse cycling race nixed Road closures scheduled to take place during the Canada Day long weekend in the Limehouse area have been lifted as a segment of the 2011 Canadian Road Championships is switching locations. A Para-Cyclists event slated to take place Saturday, July 2 on a 9-km loop around the Limehouse Conservation Area has been switched to Caledon on the same day. Organized by the Toronto-based Midweek Cycling Club, the national championships run from June 23 to July 2 at sites around the GTA.
