For Anthony Maan and Michael Patterson of the Halton Window and Door Company, honesty is the best policy. The two pride themselves on not only providing the highest quality services and products, but also educating their clients about the products they sell and the work they do. As the name suggests, the Halton Window and Door Company sells and installs residential windows and exterior doors. As part of their commitment to customer service, Anthony and Michael have opened a 1,200 square-foot showroom at 374 Guelph Street, Georgetown - the plaza at the corner of Guelph Street and Delrex Boulevard. The showroom features full-sized and installed windows and doors so customers can see exactly what they have to offer. What sets the Georgetown-based business apart from others is that Anthony and Michael do all of the selling and installing themselves. Tom Allen has taken his love of dogs and turned it into a career. Tom is the owner and operator of Muttley Crew Dog Training and Daycare Inc., a Georgetown-based business that offers a variety of dog-related services, including training, walking and daycare. Tom travels to his clients' homes so he can train the dogs - and their humans - in an environment in which they're comfortable. He also provides help in dealing with behavioural issues like fear and aggression, creating customized programs to meet the needs of both the dog and the owners. "People don't necessarily understand their dog and I want to help," he adds. "I want to help from the dog's perspective and I want to help people get the behaviour of their dog under control." In addition to these services, Tom also helps people find the right breed of dog for their lifestyle. He meets with clients and conducts a detailed interview to learn how active they are, how often they're away from home and other information to get an overall view of their life. "Too many dogs end up at the humane society because people don't know what they need or because they don't think there's anybody out there to help with behaviour problems," he says. "If they're willing to work with me and be guided properly, we can make sure their dog doesn't end up there." Darlene Saunders (Blue Springs Spa) Blue Springs Spa is going green. In the last few years, the Acton spa and salon has introduced new lines of natural, organic products. "Our products are good for the body and good for the environment," says Darlene Saunders, who has owned the spa since 2006. "Our clientele is looking for alternatives. They want healthy choices, but to still be beautiful." Blue Springs Spa recently started carrying natural hair care products by Aveda and recently introduced a new skin care line called Eminence, which is completely natural and organic. Both lines are high-end and are only found in select spas and salons. The spa also uses vegan nail polish by Spa Ritual and the sugar scrub used for pedicures is so natural you could eat it. But don't let the products scare you: Blue Springs Spa offers reasonable pricing on all services, whether you're in for an hour or for a full day. Located on Mill Street East in Acton, Blue Springs offers full spa and salon services, from manicures, pedicures and waxing to massages, facials and hair styling.
