27 Independent & Free Press, Thursday, June 23, 2011 Chargers have reason to cheer Georgetown's Centennial Public School Chargers earned first place in their division at the recent Canada's Wonderland Cheerleading Championships in just their third year together as a team. Consisting of 29 girls in Grades 6-8, Centennial's cheer squad had been training for months leading up to the 28th-annual event, which drew close to 80 teams. The Chargers also won the 2009 Canada's Wonderland competition in the junior intermediate category and were runners-up last year, so this time around the team was moved up to the junior advanced division because of the higher degree of difficulty in their stunts and gymnastic abilities. Team members (front, from left) are: Danae Howson, Rachel Detmers, Lauren Rock, Nicole McIntosh, Rachel Bridges. Second row: Cassie Oberoi, Melanie Mathieu, Claire Allen, Maddie Wilson, Shannon Hughes, Christine Eagles, Taylor Matthews, coach Tracy Tate. Third row: Kate Upton, Daisy Murphy, Courtney Martinec, Holly Karda, Kelsey Pocaluyko, Cassie Negrette, Laura Flydorf, Riley Watts. Back row: Coach Angie Franco, Andrea Farkas, Lauren Greyerbiehl, Pauline Robson, Stephanie Bowen, Haley Baker, Karine Parisien, Danielle Tyl, Rebecca Boudreault, Abby Miller, coach Katherine MacDonald.
