By VIRGINIA BANCUR GLT th Anniversary Committee GLT Gala concludes 50th season On Saturday, May 28, Georgetown Little Theatre Productions (GLT) concluded their 50th Anniversary Season with a Gala evening at the Glencairn Golf Club. Attendees included past, present members, patrons, friends of GLT including Mayor and Mrs. Rick and Josey Bonnette and Town councillors. Founding members Cathy and Gord Hunt, Vera McDonald, and Mike and Mary Peleschak were presented with corsages and boutonnieres. Unable to attend were founders John and Mary Goebel and Anne Cartwright. Guests travelled from as far as the Yukon and British Columbia. The magic of the evening started at the entrance where the guests entered under the GLT tent into a lobby greeted by members of the Youth Group and Steve Prevost, photographer. Standing balloon creations at each doorway led the way into the banquet hall where tables decorated with tall balloon centre pieces, by Lasting Impressions Balloons, sat on black tablecloths over white with red Canadian actor and former Georgetown native Bill napkins. Silent auction items were mixed with famous Queen Elizabeth impersonator, Margaret Eggleton-Kaye brought `greetings' while (bottom) longmemorabilia of the last 50 years. Virginia Bancur opened the evening and time GLT members Ron and Dorothy Hunt arrive to Gord Hunt said grace. Wine was served with enjoy the evening at Glencairn Golf & Country Club. Photos by Steve Prevost a superb three course meal. Mayor Bonnette spoke of his association with GLT presenting a plaque on behalf of the Town of Halton Hills. Past GLT member and professional actor/director/writer Bill Marchant, gave an entertaining keynote address about his younger days in Georgetown and his first foray into the world of theatre with GLT under the tutelage of Vera Macdonald. The hilarity continued as past member Margaret Eggleton-Kaye as Queen Elizabeth II, with Merv Kaye as Mountie guard. Youth Company member Jill Pike presented Her Majesty with a bouquet of flowers. DJ Dave Smallwood got guests up to groove the night away. GLT would like to thank all those who made the evening such a success. Two new artists join the Artisans Attic collective The artists of Artisans' Attic Gallery and Gifts added two new members to their fold-- gifted sculptor Stephen Alchin and talented fine artist Marcella Jackson. Alchin brings a whole new visual art form to the co-operative--soapstone carvings of animals. Large and small these art pieces are created with great care and detail. After careful study his passion to capture the animal's spirit shows in each of MARCELLA JACKSON his delightful sculptures. Jackson's brilliant painting talents include the use of a multitude of mediums, oil, acrylic and pencil to name a few. Each gorgeous portrait painting of people, pets and equine art is meticulously created. She will gladly accept custom commission work. The Artisans' Attic, an artisan's co-operative that hosts the original work of more than 30 dynamic artists is in its 13th year on Main Street South in downtown Georgetown. The abundance of skilled and beautiful work displayed at this store/gallery includes original paintings and limited edition prints, functional and decorative pottery, jewelry, weaving, basketry, photography, stained and blown glass, papier maché, fibre arts, soapstone and metal sculpture and so much more.
