Second highway info meeting goes Sept. 7 Concerned Residents Against a Superhighway in Halton Hills (CRASHH) are holding their second information night and rally on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 7-8:30 p.m. at the Gellert Community Centre, 10241 Eighth Line, Georgetown. "The Mayor's and council's post card campaign and lawn signs have been a huge factor in getting the Minister's attention. This will be a good time to bring our residents back together and show our strong opposition to the 4-3 highway in Halton Hills," said organizer Wendy Bruchal, the Halton Hills resident who spearheaded CRASHH. At the last public meeting, held at Glencairn Golf Club in June, more than 300 people attended. "Minister (of Transportation Kathleen) Wynne has now called for additional study to be done this fall and spring which means our concerns have been heard but the fight is far from over," said Bruchal. "The opposition to this super highway has been overwhelming with over 8,000 post cards sent to the Minister to date. Citizens of Halton Hills who oppose this highway must still remain vigilant in their opposition," said Halton Hills Mayor Rick Bonnette. Those attending the meeting will hear "how we hope to move forward to have this road officially taken permanently off the table," said Bruchal. 5 Independent & Free Press, Thursday, September 1, 2011 LONG WEEKEND FORECAST...
