Cost to repair the damage was $7,000. Photo by Eamonn Maher Board insurance to cover cost of damage to Kiwanis Field Continued from pg. 1 High School artificial turf field in Burlington. The cost of the damage to Kiwanis Field will be covered by the Halton District School Board's insurance. It's the first time that vandals have targeted Kiwanis Field since its opening last October. The installer of the artificial grass surface, Barrie-based WorldWide Turf, spent the day last Monday repairing the damage. Some youth soccer games had to be moved over the past few days and practices were limited to one side of the field because the burned areas were deemed too unsafe to play on, but it's expected to be ready for GDHS athletes to use as school starts today. "The Field of Dreams committee was stunned by this," said Georgetown Soccer Club president Alice Strachan. "So much hard work and time has been put into this wonderful community project and to see what's happened here is so disappointing. This is a small town and kids talk and eventually somebody might hear something. We certainly know that the kids who play here are quite disgusted with what's happened." Anyone with information about the arson is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS. Do you suffer from PAIN? Plan to attend! Wed.
