When our Studio 7 students (ages 8 -12) came back to Forest Grove in the new year, they had one thing on their minds ­ a new X-Box for their after school program, but how to get it? They collaborated with their teachers, brought their ideas to the directors and the result was that the students would host a bazaar, donating the proceeds to charity, and in recognition of their efforts, the directors would fund their X-Box dream. Studio 7 got to work. The students created original artwork, jewelry, scarves and games. They ran a silent auction, a raffle and even a bubble blowing game at 50 cents a try. At first they didn't know where their hard earned money was going to go, but when one of the students suggested the Newman Boys fund, the support was unanimous. Within a week, no one was talking about the X-Box anymore.
