Proceeds generated through sponsorships, ticket sales and on-site raffle at the OABE annually support important local Rotary-led youth initiatives including: Awards for Academic Excellence (AAE) This program encourages and rewards academic accomplishments and community service. Celebrating 17 years of supporting Oakville youth, this program operates in all of Oakville's publicly-supported secondary schools. Every year Rotary provides one award of $2,000 for academic excellence and community service at each of the public and Catholic high schools. In addition, a number of bursary awards of $1,000 each are provided where financial need on the part of the students is a requirement as well as academic performance. In total, the three Rotary Clubs in Oakville contribute approximately $40,000 to deserving high school students every year. Camp Enterprise A business leadership camp for high school students offering unique experiences in teambuilding, leadership, business principles and dealing with the challenges of life and business. The objective of the Camp Enterprise program is to explore, expose, challenge and awaken interest and imagination on the whole concept of Business and Private Enterprise. Students are treated to a broad view of professional, business and management careers. Rotary Youtwh Leadership Awards (RYLA) Each year, thousands of young people ages 14-30 take part in the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards program worldwide. Participants, who are chosen for their potential as leaders, attend an all-expenses-paid seminar, camp, or workshop to discuss leadership skills and learn them through practice. Rotary clubs and districts select attendees and facilitate the events. Rotary Club of Oakville West has provided the RYLA opportunity to many dozens of Oakville youth.
